Canoe Series #51
Canoe Series #51 - Image 2

Canoe Series #51

This is the 51st  sculpture in my Canoe Series. You will notice the edition number and my signature engraved on the back of the glass canoe. My Canoe Series started with a small edition of six in 2016, and there are now a total of fifty-one in the growing edition. Number 51 was created in May of 2023, and even if I create more in the future, yours will always be one of the first fifty-one in existence. Its value will only increase with the passage of time. My Canoe Series pieces have evolved from small starter sculptures to larger and more detailed pieces, and most include a loon by attaching it to a foreground root. This gives the impression of it swimming peacefully by the front of the island. (I usually feature loons in my sculptures where the island is surrounded by water glass) This piece features a pair of loons with one having its head tilted slightly as if to be about to call to the other. The red glass colour of the canoe gives it that classic look, and the stone that I selected for this piece comes from Island 212 on beautiful Lake Temagami in Northern Ontario. I hope that it reminds you of paddling on your favourite lake or river whenever you view it. The piece, with its red canoe and pair of loons, really “comes to life” when placed by a window, but you probably already have a location in mind for it.

This collector piece is one out of a growing edition that I started creating in 2016. You will notice that the edition number and the artist’s signature is engraved on the back of the kayak, so as more pieces are created in the Kayak Series in the future, the lower edition numbers will translate to an increase in value with the passage of time.

    Blue Mystique

I sit at the edge of day.  It is the beginning of night.  The sun exchanges places with the moon, and there is great stillness in the air.  The night is full of magic, but all that is heard is the echo of the loon’s call.  Blue Mystique envelopes those who will listen to the silence.  The silence that is you.
