Canoe Series #49

Canoe Series #49

My Canoe Series started with a small edition of six in 2016, and there are now a total of fifty-one in the growing edition. Number 49 was created in February of 2023, and even if I create more in the future, yours will always be one of the first fifty-one in existence. Its value will only increase with the passage of time. My Canoe Series pieces have evolved from small starter sculptures to larger and more detailed pieces, and most include a loon by attaching it to a foreground root. This gives the impression of it swimming peacefully by the front of the island. (I usually feature loons in my sculptures where the island is surrounded by water glass) This piece features a pair of loons with one having its head tilted slightly and beak open as it calls to the other. The red glass colour of the canoe gives it that classic look, and the stone that I selected for this piece comes from Island 212 on beautiful Lake Temagami in Northern Ontario. I hope that it reminds you of paddling on your favourite lake or river whenever you view it. The piece, with its red canoe and pair of loons, really “comes to life” when placed by a window.

    Kayak Summers

Warmth caresses my soul through speckled shadows upon crystal waters. Silence reaches out to me as a gift from one who knows. Pine fresh visions guide me in directions yet to be discovered, as clouds of wispy textures float overhead. These are the pleasures of kayak summers.

    Canoe Song

Listen to the quiet tone of paddles stroking cool, clear, depths, as the swirl of gentle breezes soothe the haunting call of the loon. Ripples on rocky shores glisten, keeping time as they rise and fall in ancient rhythms. Choose to join nature’s symphony, with a genuine respect for all of its instruments, and rejoice in the subtle melodies of the canoe song.

This collector piece is one out of a growing edition that I started creating in 2016. You will notice that the edition number and the artist’s signature is engraved on the back of the kayak, so as more pieces are created in the Kayak Series in the future, the lower edition numbers will translate to an increase in value with the passage of time.
