Canoe Series #52

Canoe Series #52

This is the 52nd  sculpture in my Canoe Series. You will notice the edition number and my signature engraved on the back of the metal canoe. My Canoe Series started with a small edition of six in 2016, and there are now a total of fifty-two in the growing edition. Number 52 was created in March of 2024, and even if I create more in the future, this will always be one of the first fifty-two in existence. Its value will only increase with the passage of time. My Canoe Series pieces have evolved from small starter sculptures to larger and more detailed pieces, and most include a loon by attaching it to a foreground root. This gives the impression of it swimming peacefully by the front of the island. This piece features one loon swimming away from the island with the prevailing winds behind it. The very special amethyst that I have selected for this piece comes from the Blue Point Mine near Thunder Bay in Northern Ontario. I have created the pine boughs in violet hues to compliment the sparkle and colour of the amethyst. I hope that it reminds you of paddling on your favourite lake or river whenever you view it. The piece, with its amethyst splendour, really “comes to life” when placed by a window. $825.00

Your clear waters calm my soul with every stroke of my paddle. My red canoe is drawn to islands where solitude and reflection have sustained me through formative years. A father’s love of nature flows through my veins like warm Summer breezes, and lessons learned are appreciated with every sunset’s glow.  You are the catalyst that reunites long lost friends. You are Lac-du-Cerf.

    A Forest’s Light

We are not alone in this forest of ever changing hues and varied depths of understanding. Images that challenge us sweep in on gentle breezes or forceful gusts, but the strength we absorb from others keeps us grounded. Reach up from the darkness, and be craddled in the branches of the forest’s light.

Seek out those who uplift and guide you to calm and safe harbours, like the reassurance of the Cove Island beacon.
