Anchored in Love

A young couple met in fellowship in 1948, and their devotion and love for each other was celebrated in front of friends and family two years later in the Royal City.  They were blessed with the births of three beautiful daughters, and a family life of love and faith had begun. “God’s Country” called year after year, as an oasis for relaxation and bonding amongst Muskoka’s majestic pines and pristine waterways. Sunset visions melted into a campfire’s crackle, as they danced in love to the hypnotic song of the loon. People were drawn to him in magnetic rhythms, and she possessed a mastery of words, as they both lived a life of unwavering love and faith.  Four grandchildren adored their Nana and Papa, and both were promoted to “super” status by their five great grandchildren.  A love of theatre and a life of travel ensued, but family and friends were always the catalyst to draw them back home. The lunar orb shines brightly on a family grown from the seeds of love, and is reflected for others to witness and enjoy.  Twenty-one stars spray across the night sky for all who continue in their legacy.  The guidance and kindness passed on through their special relationship will continue to be an inspiration to all, for they have been anchored in love.

Paddle strokes heard through the morning mist foreshadow an artist in search of inspiration. Algonquin presents its gifts to all who are willing to receive. Some see landscapes in vibrant colours and bold brushstrokes, while others pass without thought. Be a painter with your presence. Protect the forest, and guide others to respect its treasures. Move slowly, and absorb the vistas before you. Take pause from devices that distract, and discover your inner Thomson.

    Lac du Cerf

Your clear waters calm my soul with every stroke of my paddle. My red canoe is drawn to islands where solitude and reflection have sustained me through formative years. A father’s love of nature flows through my veins like warm Summer breezes, and lessons learned are appreciated with every sunset’s glow.  You are the catalyst that reunites long lost friends. You are Lac-du-Cerf.

    Courage

A man weaves tales of this land through poetry and song. Senses are awakened by images of past glory, as well as those of immeasurable pain. Challenges are whispered, to all who will listen, from frail limbs and foreboding eyes. Chanie Wenjack’s secret path jolts us into uncomfortable realizations of historical disconnects, and untold misery on the tip of a Raven’s wing. Pearls of wisdom, spoken by a sister, seek a different world through truth and reconciliation. We are all connected to someone, as Gord is to Chanie. Follow the examples of those who came before us, and seek the strength to facilitate change. Let us dance for healing under the moonlight on ashes of love. All is possible with the promise and power of courage.

    Night Birch

I hear the world differently than you. Visual cues present themselves, and guide me in ways unknown to most. I hear rustling leaves through oscillating shimmer, as they dance to an East wind’s command. The splash of a Northern Pike delights me, as ripples radiate then fade to still waters. A loon’s crimson eyes rise and fall in royal splendour, as its lonely call brushes my soul. Night falls as ashen shadows and azure skies cloak reflective silence. All who bear witness unite in my world. I am not alone in the presence of the night birch.
