Canoe Series #14

Canoe Series #14

This collector piece is one out of a growing edition that I started creating in 2016. You will notice that the edition number and the artist’s signature is engraved on the back of the canoe, so as more pieces are created in the Canoe Series in the future, the lower edition numbers will translate to an increase in value with the passage of time. The stone that is selected for this piece comes from Lake Temagami in Northern Ontario, Canada.  If you haven’t had to chance to visit this area, be sure to do so. This piece will really “come alive” when placed in the direct sunlight by a window.

Moving through fluid pathways with grace and resilience as honoured ancestors of the Kenu. Cedar strip, canvas covered, aluminum, fibreglass, and Kevlar, pay homage to those who plied these waters for millenniums. Respect was given to all who shared this land. This message must never be ignored, as we honour our origins.

    Huron Shores

Breaking waves caress the inhabitants of distant shores in hypnotic rhythms.  Pebbles glisten and turn, becoming one with the smooth and rippled sand beneath them.  A lone Pine clings to all that supports it, and life continues on Huron’s shores.
