Canoe Series #56

Canoe Series #56

This is the 56th sculpture in my Canoe Series. You will notice the edition number and my signature engraved on the back of the green canoe. My Canoe Series started with a small edition of six in 2016, and there are now a total of fifty-six in the growing edition. Number 56 was created in November of 2024, and even if I create more in the future, this will always be one of the first fifty-six in existence. Its value will only increase with the passage of time. My Canoe Series pieces have evolved from small starter sculptures to larger and more detailed pieces, but this sculpture is the smallest but mightiest one I have created. The very special iron pyrite that I have selected for this piece adds weight and sparkle to the piece and compliments the green canoe well. I hope that this piece reminds you of paddling on your favourite lake or river whenever you view it. The piece, with its bright green canoe set on pyrite, really “comes to life” when placed by a window. $675.00

    Awaiting Spring

Early snow brings pause to all who ply these waters.  The call of geese overhead reminds me of the passing season, and the gentle approach of the next.  Memories return to summer morns, and carefree paddles on mist shrouded lakes.  Without the return of melting warmth, we are only left awaiting spring.

    Cedar Strip

Crafted from the forest, its gunnels and keel gleam with an artist’s touch.  Flashes of light across a mist soaked lake supply proof of its presence, as it glides and sways in a rhythmic dance.  Markings on a polished underbelly honour the rocky Algonquin and Temagami isles where sanctuary was sought for moments of reflection and sustenance, or protection from leeward winds. As stars appear and night draws near, I wait in anticipation for the coming dawn when once again I can share quiet moments alone with my cedar strip.
