Emerald and Blues

Under the shadow of the pine, patience and stealth guide those who hunger. The fallen submerge at water’s edge, and guide a trio of new life towards the light. At branch’s tip, eyes scan for movement and opportunity, while morning breezes protect the unsuspecting under rippled waters. Human influence adds only shades of indigo, and disrupts nothing in this microcosm bathed in emerald and blues.

    Lake of Two Rivers

An Algonquin lake sparkles like a rare gem set between two serpentine diamond strings named Madawaska.  In view of the red trimmed cabins of Killarney Lodge, an ancient outcropping emerges and gives life to those who would cling to its rocky shores. Indigenous pathways reflect in mirror soaked calmness, as respect is given to the land that breathed life into their ancestors.  Winter ice brings guests unlikely to traverse open water, and provides host for a moment of isolation and reflection.  The warm waters of summer wafts quiet voices and gentle paddle strokes across glistening wakes, as distant loons call with lilting echoes. Approaching clouds hint at changing weather as all seek shelter in her bays.  This enchanting landscape reveals its secrets in blazing colour, frozen solitude, and misty shrouds.  This is the life blood of a gift we call Lake of Two Rivers.

    Celestial Light

We raised our eyes, three years past, to ribbons of glorious light dancing on cobalt skies. Shimmering translucence scattering untold diamonds in reflections of yesterday. We shed tears for the indiscretions of men, but bathe in the goodness and comfort of those around us. Lift up your spirits in the presence of others, for the world is a wondrous place. Take time to bask in the glow of the celestial light.

    After the Storm

The calmness in the water of Lake of Two Rivers is interrupted by an approaching storm. The winds pick up with a sudden surge, wildlife seeks shelter in a frenzy of activity, and the skies open up with a burst of moisture. All around, the air is filled with a freshness that adds rich hues to the surrounding features. The raindrops on the branches descend slowly as if moved by unseen forces, and new life is spawned on the forest floor below. The calmness soon returns to the waters of Algonquin, and life begins again, after the storm.

    Lac du Cerf

Your clear waters calm my soul with every stroke of my paddle. My red canoe is drawn to islands where solitude and reflection have sustained me through formative years. A father’s love of nature flows through my veins like warm Summer breezes, and lessons learned are appreciated with every sunset’s glow.  You are the catalyst that reunites long lost friends. You are Lac-du-Cerf.
