In the Shallows

Creatures of all proportions seek the rewards found amongst anchored remnants of past giants and the filtered light of new growth. The immensity of the figure the Algonquins named Mooswa emerges from emerald confines in search of sustenance, while the symbols of healing and wisdom laze in dawn’s first brilliance unaware of the shifting presence beyond the rocky outcropping. Life scatters just below the mirror like surface as winds change and signal a rustling in the interlaced branches of the pine labyrinth above. Take pause from worldly anxiety and woe and drink in the healing vitality found in the shallows.

    Celebration

St. Pauls College introduced two young students to each other, as well as the opportunity to make other life long friends. Love blossomed between the two, and led to a stiffling hot August day in seventy-seven, where exchanged vows changed their lives forever. Gibson Lake taught them the joys of paddling, and Killarney proved that the quickest way to escape a bear was to head out on the water.

    Celestial Light

We raised our eyes, three years past, to ribbons of glorious light dancing on cobalt skies. Shimmering translucence scattering untold diamonds in reflections of yesterday. We shed tears for the indiscretions of men, but bathe in the goodness and comfort of those around us. Lift up your spirits in the presence of others, for the world is a wondrous place. Take time to bask in the glow of the celestial light.

Birch, Red Maple, and Pine stand on the shore of an Autumn lake, as a symbol of perseverance and diversity. Entwined roots help them stand together in solidarity from the menace of the approaching Winter winds. Reflect on this country’s historic diversity. Rejoice in our differences, and continue to protect our Canadian trilogy.
