Leap of Faith

Leap of Faith

Sunlit trails lead us through rustling grasses, lichens that crunch under foot, and sea urchin shells, as we draw closer to Callahan Cove. Wind worn stone rises up before us, temporarily blocking the steely blues of the Atlantic that we sense is close at hand. With vistas achieved, we stand in isolation and celebrate the twenty-five years of our union in this magical place. We marvel at the panorama before us, and are satisfied with what nature has offered. As if on cue, the leap of a giant suddenly centers our gaze to the spectacle of strength now in our presence. We soon realize that anything is possible in life if only you take a leap of faith.

    Courage

A man weaves tales of this land through poetry and song. Senses are awakened by images of past glory, as well as those of immeasurable pain. Challenges are whispered, to all who will listen, from frail limbs and foreboding eyes. Chanie Wenjack’s secret path jolts us into uncomfortable realizations of historical disconnects, and untold misery on the tip of a Raven’s wing. Pearls of wisdom, spoken by a sister, seek a different world through truth and reconciliation. We are all connected to someone, as Gord is to Chanie. Follow the examples of those who came before us, and seek the strength to facilitate change. Let us dance for healing under the moonlight on ashes of love. All is possible with the promise and power of courage.

    Lake of Two Rivers

An Algonquin lake sparkles like a rare gem set between two serpentine diamond strings named Madawaska.  In view of the red trimmed cabins of Killarney Lodge, an ancient outcropping emerges and gives life to those who would cling to its rocky shores. Indigenous pathways reflect in mirror soaked calmness, as respect is given to the land that breathed life into their ancestors.  Winter ice brings guests unlikely to traverse open water, and provides host for a moment of isolation and reflection.  The warm waters of summer wafts quiet voices and gentle paddle strokes across glistening wakes, as distant loons call with lilting echoes. Approaching clouds hint at changing weather as all seek shelter in her bays.  This enchanting landscape reveals its secrets in blazing colour, frozen solitude, and misty shrouds.  This is the life blood of a gift we call Lake of Two Rivers.

Birch, Red Maple, and Pine stand on the shore of an Autumn lake, as a symbol of perseverance and diversity. Entwined roots help them stand together in solidarity from the menace of the approaching Winter winds. Reflect on this country’s historic diversity. Rejoice in our differences, and continue to protect our Canadian trilogy.
