Description
Every individual who opened the doors of the library and traversed the historic threshold knew they would be greeted by a woman with a quiet dignity, discretion, and the utmost respect. Many who came in contact with her were blessed with a humorous story or two and were left knowing that she had made a difference in their lives. Her bliss was being surrounded by books, and for three plus decades the library was her domain. Her memory for a patron’s preferences was uncanny, and she possessed an undeniable intelligence entwined in the written word. The joy of six grandchildren remained constant throughout, and they knew her love flowed through the words on a page, a friendly smile, and the sunlit dew shimmering in a well-planned flower garden. Being surrounded by hostas, irises, cone flowers, tulips, and toadstools was her sacred space of peaceful reflection and contentment. Her name is Vera, and we will always see her smiling face, share her joy, and remember the respect she held for all through the love of reading.
