Whether I am viewing the immensity and power of Niagara, or the spring meltwater rushing over Muskoka granite, the sight and sound of cascading water has always inspired me. Changing sunlight on the water creates an aquatic dance unlike anything else you would see in nature. Near the western border of Algonquin Park, Ragged Falls flows through the ever changing seasons as a testament to the unspoiled passage of time.

We are not alone in this forest of ever changing hues and varied depths of understanding. Images that challenge us sweep in on gentle breezes or forceful gusts, but the strength we absorb from others keeps us grounded. Reach up from the darkness, and be craddled in the branches of the forest’s light.
The Great Canadian Shield not only anchors us to the original inhabitants of this vast country, but it acts as the geological glue that binds all of Canada together. We stand as one on a firm foundation, following the example of the Maple, Pine, Birch, and Sumac, as we celebrate our diversity in varied colours, shapes, strengths, and purpose. Be diligent and shield our natural heritage and traditions from all who claim to make sound environmental decisions on our behalf. Speak out with your heart. Speak out with your soul. Listen to the ancient voices.
Awaken before the rise of the sun. Listen through the ascending shroud for the call of the loon and the splash of the otter. Breathe in the early morn as paddle strokes caress placid waters, and absorb all that is offered in the Temagami mist.
Stand above the world’s injustices and misguided leaders, and shine your light for others to follow. Those who have lost their way will feel the warmth of your presence, and be lead to higher ground above stormy and turbulent waters. Seek out those who uplift and guide you to calm and safe harbours, like the reassurance of the Cove Island beacon.
