The Living Tree

The Living Tree

How do we remember a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a grandfather, and a mentor, who has touched us deeply?  The flash of a sun fish, a loon’s call, and a paddle’s ripple on Algonquin’s pristine waters, will always take us to special times spent with a father amongst nature’s wonders.  Flirtations with coloured glass, and constant encouragement, inspired the artists in all of us.  His roots embraced those in his life, and released them to shine like polished pebbles on a beach with endless possibilities.  We will see him in the smiles of a grandchild, and in a gentle caress.  Colour blindness was only a label, as a never ending spectrum of warmth and compassion followed all of those he touched.  A leaf bathed in golden hues remind us of a life partner he held so dear.  Crimson light tell of offspring, and their partners, thought of in the highest regard, while youthful greens of emerald and jade promise a never ending legacy of love.  Your Maple tree was cut down, but never will it die.  Your memory is forever entrusted, and will thrive in the strong and unbreakable limbs of the living tree.

Contrasting colours combine in a fleeting, ancient vision.  Whether we find ourselves in the shadows, or illuminated by the light, our island will anchor us all in strength, respect, and purpose.  Do not underestimate the power of diversity.

    Canoe Song

Listen to the quiet tone of paddles stroking cool, clear, depths, as the swirl of gentle breezes soothe the haunting call of the loon. Ripples on rocky shores glisten, keeping time as they rise and fall in ancient rhythms. Choose to join nature’s symphony, with a genuine respect for all of its instruments, and rejoice in the subtle melodies of the canoe song.
