Free standing sculptures

This unique sculpture depicts an aging pine anchored to a rocky island as an enlarging moon appears to rise from the watery depths.  The stone consists of granite, quartz and iron pyrite, which gives the island a mystical quality all of its own.  When the correct light strikes the moon, subtle lunar shapes and colours can be seen in the glass.  Imagine what the pine has witnessed over its lifetime as it is silhouetted by yet another moonrise.

As the sun rises on an Algonquin Park morning, a determined pine clings to a small granite island as its roots wind down to the calm waters below.

The daily mystery unfolds as the hidden promise of another dawn lingers behind the setting sun.A night of rest, the early awakening, and the brilliance of last light. Such is Nature’s Promise.

The brilliant October colours of Algonquin fade away, and leave a more austere palette of rock and pines.
