This is the second sculpture in my new Paddle Board Series.
I revisit this place drawn by a mysterious reminiscence. A shoreline bows in an ancient, but welcoming stance for all who respect its gifts. Escape the rushing rivers where obstacles force us down paths not of our choosing. Be still, and listen to a world at peace and free from competition and hate. Inhale the spirit’s breath, and rejoice in the promise of paddles at rest.
Fulfillment is not beyond your reach as you make your way down an uncertain pathway.
Take pause from your journey through this life, and rejoice with the one who shares it with you.
Be not afraid to carry your burden in the shadow of the creator, for you will be uplifted by the plentiful gifts of others. You are not alone in your quest, as the spirits of our ancestors breathe freshness and calm upon this winding pathway. Absorb the sweet scents, and caress the sounds of the forest, as you step softly in anticipation of traversing the crystal clear visions ahead. This is the pledge of the portage.
Darkening skies approach this sacred space with sinister intent. All but one are resigned to the immanent changes being brought to bear from above. Glowing embers give witness to the might of the flame, but those who know the truth see the scars and move forward with renewed purpose and determination. They are innately aware of the power of one.
My red canoe has delivered me to this place of peace and tranquillity, where status has no value. Be alone with your thoughts. Reflect on the joys of being at one with nature, and breathe in the silence of quiet moments.
Release the struggles and pressures of the urban existence and seek solace in the peace and freshness of this quiet isolation.
Pedestals of ancient life turns to stone in a metamorphosis of the ages. Seeds, tossed by guiding breezes, settle in crevasses warmed by Spring rains. Like a phoenix, new growth rises to the light above, and stands as a testament of renewal and rebirth.
