’59 Chevy

In 1997, a friend came to me about a window he had envisioned for his hot tub room by his outdoor pool.  He had meticulously restored his red ’59 Chevy truck, and wanted the window to depict his beloved hotrod in a desert scene complete with a skeletal bull’s head and the setting sun.  You can see in the two detailed images that the word Chevrolet was engraved in the grill, and other fine details were added throughout the truck’s body.  To appreciate the work involved in this piece, you have to realize that everywhere you see a dark line, it represents a single piece of glass.  All the long, thin pieces in the grill, for example, were extremely difficult to cut and foil.  It was an early piece in my development, and I really pushed my skills to the limit on this one.  I would be reluctant to attempt a similar piece as this today, mainly due to the amount of time it would require to complete.

    Secrets of the Wetlands

Look below the surface and discover a world unknown to those who pass by in haste. The Great Canadian Shield not only anchors us to the original inhabitants of this vast country, but it acts as the geological glue that binds all of Canada together. We stand as one on a firm foundation, following the example of the Maple, Pine, Birch, and Sumac, as we celebrate our diversity in varied colours, shapes, strengths, and purpose. Be diligent and shield our natural heritage and traditions from all who claim to make sound environmental decisions on our behalf. Speak out with your heart. Speak out with your soul. Listen to the ancient voices.

    Night Birch

I hear the world differently than you. Visual cues present themselves, and guide me in ways unknown to most. I hear rustling leaves through oscillating shimmer, as they dance to an East wind’s command. The splash of a Northern Pike delights me, as ripples radiate then fade to still waters. A loon’s crimson eyes rise and fall in royal splendour, as its lonely call brushes my soul. Night falls as ashen shadows and azure skies cloak reflective silence. All who bear witness unite in my world. I am not alone in the presence of the night birch.
